On Thursday, January 3, the newly built and restored buildings of Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Operating management centre and Medical qualification and training Centre in Riga, Laktas Street 8. The centre will now respond to emergencies via a new telephone number ? 113.
The EMS has reconstructed the Operational medical wing at Riga Eastern Clinical Hospital in Gailezers, acquiring modern technologies and information systems for receiving residents? calls and dispatching medical teams. The EMS also procured 45 brand new vehicles for its medical brigades in Latvian regions, reports the representative of the service Ilze Buksa.
As it is known, in 2009, it was decided to create a united EMS management complex. The initiative was co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The restored buildings and the surrounding park are state important city construction and architectural monuments, located on the territory of the Riga Military Hospital built in the 18th century.
It should be added that the Operative Centre of EMS receives nearly 2 000 calls of emergencies every day. Medical teams are called in nearly 1 200 times every day across Latvia.
